Joanne’s career has been devoted to changing education in America. As executive Director of the Hyde Foundation for over two decades he has been the founding head of school of multiple Leadership Charter schools in underserved communities around the country. Previously, she was Manager of Labor Relations for the US Postal Service for almost a decade. Building on her experience of being a leader as coach, and furthering her commitment to underserved communities, she now coaches leaders engaged in social change.
Joanne has continually spearheaded major turn-around efforts in schools, resulting in increased performance ratings, improved school culture, unprecedented academic achievement and parent engagement. She has lead school expansions from elementary to high school, assisted with site acquisition and building plans, and managed large school budgets and major capital improvement projects. Her efforts have resulted in innovative parent programming and noteworthy graduation & college retention rates.
A native of Lowell, MA, Goubourn graduated from Hyde School in 1975. She received a BA from Wellesley College, an MA in Human Resource Development from American International College, a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, and is a Doctorate of Education candidate in Education Administration and Policy at Howard University.
